Richard “Dick” Derrer, 79, of Lambertville, Michigan, died in his home on December 31, 2015. Born in Mancelona, Michigan, he was the youngest son of Roland and Averil Derrer. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Dick married Doris Kreps in 1966, while they were both school teachers at Bedford. A winner of 16 varsity letters in high school, he remained a lifetime fan of Michigan athletic teams and coached at various levels throughout the years. He was also an active member of his church for several decades.
Dick is survived by Doris and their sons Robert, Ronald and James; sister, Arlene Meeder; grandchildren, Ellen and Henry Derrer. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Fred and Jack Derrer, and sister, Joyce Hanselman.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 pm, Friday, January 8, 2016, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Road, Temperance, MI, where a memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm. Memorials made to the Wounded Warriors Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
